Michael Eugene Archer, better known to the world as D’Angelo, has passed away. The Richmond, Virginia native died this morning, October 14, 2025, following a private battle with pancreatic cancer. D’Angelo was 51.
Richmond rapper and engineer Michael Millions reflected on what D’Angelo meant to the city and beyond. “Angelo was one of the very best in the world, especially being from Richmond and watching him grow into his career and all the people he’s inspired, all the artists like myself he’s inspired. Man, it makes me feel like the ground shook today, for real. This is a huge loss for the city. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with his family and his children. Tough one.”
He leaves behind three children and a catalog of music that will be studied and celebrated for decades.
