Lloyd Knight is living art. There is no other way to describe him. A master of his art form, while remaining one of its most humble servants.

I have had the privilege to talk to Lloyd many times to discuss his career and artistry. Our first conversation was in 2011. It was shortly after his recovery from a yearlong injury. Over the years he has shared his journey through dance and his artistic growth as a member of the Graham Company.

A principal dancer and 21-year veteran of the company Lloyd sat down with O&A NYC Editor-in-Chief Walter Rutledge to discuss the upcoming Martha Graham Dance Company’s historic 100th season April 8th through 12th at New York City Center. We have listed the performance schedule below.

This special preview performance of three great Graham classics features a rare look inside the collaborative process of dancing to live music. After each dance is performed, Artistic Director Janet Eilber and conductor David Hayes will provide commentary and demonstrate the give and take needed to align the artistry of the orchestra to the needs of the dancers.
