Robert Yancy, Natalie Cole’s son says the first African-American to win a Grammy for Best New Artist deserved a better tribute. Yancy says he’s outraged his mom didn’t get a star-studded tribute. “She has deserved so much more than that because she has done so much,” he said. “It was really insulting,” he added. Try Again, a song by late recording artist Aaliyah was written by Static Major and Timothy Mosley, and produced by Timbaland. The song was released on February 22, 2000, as the lead single for the soundtrack to the film Romeo Must Die. The music video was filmed at Hollywood Center Studios on March 6, 2000. Maurice Hines presents Tappin Thru Life, at the New World Stages (340 West 50th Street), an entertaining mix of song, and dance peppered with Hines winning blend of tongue in cheek comedic realism. The evening chronicled his career in show business, which spans over six decades (beginning at age five). Septuagenarian (plus two) Hines charmed and cajoled the audience with unabashed panache, creating a clap along good time from beginning to end. Through a series of autobiographical anecdotes accompanied by song, dance and a mosaic/collage of multiple projected images Hines reveals a life spent “walkin the walk” or in Hines case “tappin thru life”.
