Jackie’s Back (1999) is a cult classic mockumentary that stars Jenifer Lewis as Jackie Washington, a self-absorbed, fictional R&B diva of the 1960s and 70s attempting a desperate comeback.
Directed by Robert Townsend, the film follows Jackie as she prepares for a performance at the Hollywood Theater while a British documentarian, played by Tim Curry, captures her “rise to stardom and fall from grace”.
