The BOONDOCKS is an adult animated sitcom on Cartoon Network’s late-night programming block, Adult Swim. The series premiered on November 6, 2005. Created by Aaron McGruder, BOONDOCKS is based on McGruder’s comic strip, which is distributed in over 350 newspapers nationwide. Eric Marlon Bishop known professionally as Jamie Foxx, is an African-American actor, singer-songwriter, stand-up comedian and musician. Ugly Wanda, played by Foxx, was based on a character LaWanda Page played in a sketch on Redd Foxx (1977). The first sketch to feature Wanda, in which she gives an erotic massage to a man who hasn’t seen her face, is a remake of the original Redd Foxx sketch. The character was named after Page. Samuel George “Sammy” Davis, Jr. was born on December 8, 1925. He was an African- American entertainer who broke many barriers and paved the way for entertainers in all  disciplines. Davis was primarily a dancer and singer, but he also received acclaim as an actor of stage and screen, musician, and impressionist. In 1983 Whoopi Goldberg (Caryn Elaine Johnson) created The Spook Show, a one-woman show composed of different character monologues. Director Mike Nichols offered to take the show to Broadway. Whoopi Goldberg: Direct from Broadway premiered on October 24, 1984 and ran until March 10, 1985, for a total of 156 performances. Continue reading
